Namun, nampaknya kedua-dua istilah ini dicadangkan dan setahu saya gelombang dan ombak merupakan konsep berbeza. Huraian yang diberikan juga sedikit mengelirukan. Bolehkah saudara cadangkan istilah yang paling tepat daripada kedua-dua istilah ini? | Berdasarkan data dalam PRPM, kedua -dua istilah, iaitu ombak dominan dan gelombang dominan ialah padanan bahasa Melayu yang betul untuk "dominant wave". Most people know that the theory of evolution did not appear amongst us like a bolt from blue with the publication of Charles Darwin’s The Origin Of Species in 1859. But not many people are aware that the idea has been around in various forms for at least two and a half thousands years. Like us, the ancient Greeks failed to agree about the origins of life. Their cosmologies were profoundly different from our own. There were no heresy laws or inquisitions to fear or a dominant creation story to side-step. Ancient Greek cosmologies were wildly variant : some believed that life had been shaped by gods ; others that had come into being through atoms colliding chaotically. Empedocles – poet, healer, magician and controller of storms as well as a philosopher – produced a surreal foreshadowing of natural selection two and a half thousand years ago on the island that we now call Sicily. He proposed that life had started out as random body parts – eyes, necks, arms, teeth – suspended in primeval soup. Collisions had produced random combinations – men with the heads of cattle ; animals with brances for limbs.
